The History of Apostolic Ministries Inc.

Apostolic Ministries began in July 1979 when Elder Alvin J. McCoy received a vision from God. Sharing this vision with Brother Stephen Bennefield and Brother Martin Magee, the three committed to starting the ministry. Bible studies began, and the first service was held on July 25th at the home of Pastor and Sister Lisa McCoy. The church quickly grew, moving to the Sandy Lake Borough Building, then to a second-floor apartment, and later to a storefront in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania.

In 1980, the ministry was incorporated as Apostolic Ministries of Sandy Lake, PA, and purchased land for a campground. The Full Gospel Bible Institute was also founded to provide biblical training. In 1981, the ministry expanded to Farrell, PA, with the establishment of New and Living Way Center of Truth. Over the years, the ministry grew, purchasing buildings, expanding the church, and establishing other ministries across Pennsylvania and beyond.

In the late 1990s, Apostolic Ministries began to expand nationally with the formation of New Heights Ministries in York, PA, followed by various other churches and ministries joining under AMI. By 2004, AMI's influence extended into Ohio, Virginia, and Oklahoma, with several more churches being established.

In 2010, AMI began operating from a downtown office in Sharon, PA. With a growing congregation, Bishop McCoy envisioned a new worship center and, after encountering challenges, redirected efforts to purchase the former Jewish Temple at 840 Highland Road, Sharon, PA, in 2014. The ministry moved into this new debt-free building, renaming it the Greater New and Living Way Temple of the Apostolic Faith, marking the fulfillment of the vision that continues to evolve.
